Phase 1 – The foundations, plinth and walled walkway

With this phase requiring vast quantities of mixed concrete, a mobile mixer had to be brought from Oban and this meant that the schedule had to be adhered to strictly to do the foundation work.  Shuttering for the plinth was pre-prepared to hasten the pour for it.

Hollow block work was erected, and then filled with stainless steel rods and a mix of 20mm aggregate and cement.  This was a time consuming stage to ensure there were no air pockets.
